Wine

Finlaysons is widely regarded as the leading wine industry law firm in Australia.

It’s a position we have held for many years and one we value greatly. As Australians, we know and love wine. In fact, some of us even make it. And we have worked with the industry at home and abroad for decades, helping Australian wine take its place on the global stage, leading the way in complex and changing markets.

We have built unrivalled global knowledge and expertise through our dedicated Wine Unit, a specialist, multi-disciplinary team headed by partner Will Taylor. We are thus able to support clients at every level and in every wine region in Australia, from their viticultural issues to sales, marketing and distribution matters, acting for small family operations to some of the world’s largest wine and beverage companies.

Recent projects include:

  • Acting for a major Indian wine company in its purchase of winery assets in South Australia.

  • Acting for a major Australian wine company in its sale of numerous winery and vineyard assets across Australia.

  • Advising a major French company regarding the recapitalisation of its Australian wine industry operations.
