South Australia is one of the most liveable places in the world.
From the beginning, South Australia was designed to create an attractive place to both investors and workers. Our Government’s approach is consistent with this historic commitment to investment attraction.
South Australia is changing. Our economy and society is experiencing an era of rapid transition, bringing new opportunities to everyone associated with this exciting period in our State’s history.
Our vibrant capital city of Adelaide is an economic asset that will continue to attract significant investment from overseas. Substantial investments have been made to our South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, to the Adelaide Oval, and to the Riverbank Precinct. The excitement and positive outlook that these changes have encouraged has also impacted our economic activity.
Of the Australian cities surveyed, Adelaide ranked second in KPMG’s Competitive Alternatives Report released last year. But we want to make Adelaide the best place in Australia in which to do business. Our Government will continue to support new measures that make Adelaide a more attractive city in which to invest.
And we will continue to develop partnerships between government, business and our academic institutions. We believe that when people work together, everyone is stronger. The South Australian Government will consider any strong proposal which aligns with our economic priorities, with the potential to create jobs for South Australians.
Last year, we released ten economic priorities designed to make South Australia the place where people and business thrive. We want to strengthen our international engagement and connections to draw investment to our priority sectors such as education, health industries, resources, premium food and wine, and tourism.
The greatest opportunity for potential investors, however, is the South Australian people. South Australians are creative, innovative and industrious. Far from the large population centres and inhabiting the driest state on the driest continent on earth, we had no choice! We want to continue to apply these quintessentially South Australian characteristics to further strengthen our South Australian economy.
South Australia is open to potential investors, and we look forward to welcoming you here soon.
